For those who have enjoyed going to Churchill Downs for off-track betting, the digs just got a little nicer. On January 16th, Churchill Downs opened The Parlay for OTB patrons, providing a nice environment for bettors to watch and gamble on racing from all around the country.
The Parlay is part of the $9 million worth of projects and upgrades that Churchill Down has set in motion. Since 2005, OTB customers have spent their time on the second floor, but now have an all new facility to take advantage of. The Parlay holds approximately 600 customers in its 14,000 square foot area and has all the usual amenities available to off-track bettors. Lining the walls are 60 high-definition televisions, with 42 of those being 70’’ models. The Parlay also features a 24 foot bar and food area offering drinks of all kinds and an ample menu of sandwiches and other foods.
As is usual in these types of facilities, there are plenty of tables and chairs for patrons, as well as bar seating. Additionally, there are 320 individual carrels for bettors to take advantage of. The Parlay is not open for business year around though, as it will be converted into a media center from April through June, to accommodate needs stemming from the Kentucky Derby.
Admission to Churchill Downs and The Parlay is $3 and gates open at 11:30 am, with a simulcast schedule that runs from Wednesday through Sunday. You can access The Parlay by entering Churchill Downs through the main gate next to the Kentucky Derby Museum and there is plenty of free parking available.
