The 141st Kentucky Derby will be run on Saturday, May 2th at Churchill Downs. The 141st Kentucky Oaks will be run the day before on Friday, May 1st. Post time for the Oaks is approximately 4:45 PM while the Kentucky Derby will leave the gate at approximately 6:07 PM.

The majority of hotels in the Louisville area require a three-night minimum stay for Derby week (Thursday – Saturday nights). Check out our Derby Travel Information page for more information on hotels and restaurants.

The majority of fans attending the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby sitting in the grandstand or clubhouse seating areas dress for both comfort and style. There is no set dress code for these areas, however many fans do dress in the high fashion styles that make the Kentucky Derby “the place to see and be seen”. The premier dining room seating areas (Turf Club, Millionaires Row, Skye Terrace) typically feature a more upscale dress code, such as suits or sport coats for men and elegant dresses for women.
